How To Choose A Credit Card With 610 Credit Score

Before choosing a credit card with a fair credit score around 611, 613, 615, or 617, you will want to look closely at the terms, rates, and fees.

It is good to know how do credit cards work

Generally, if the APR rate is higher, there is a zero annual fee, or if there is a fee, it will be very low.

However, if the APR rate is low, then there is usually a higher annual fee.

Credit card companies want to be sure they get paid for giving you a revolving loan whether you use it or not, one way they do that is by issuing cards with a high APR or Annual fee.

Knowing what these fees are and how they will help you make a more informed decision on the best credit card for someone with a credit score around 612, 614, 616, or 618 range.

APR Rates

The annual percentage rate, better known as the APR rate, is the amount you pay in interest (including fees) when you use your credit card.

You can compare APR rates between credit card offers and know that, for the most part, you are comparing apples to apples.

The lower the APR interest rate of the card, the less money you will have to pay in interest.

Best Credit Card For A 610 611 612 613 614 615 616 617 618 619 Credit Score

Keep in mind that some credit cards come with a six month or 12 month introductory APR rates of zero percent.

However, that number may skyrocket into the high 20% once the introductory period is over.

Annual percentage rates for credit cards with a 610 credit score may be variable which means that they will adjust up and down based on the market prime rate.

Be sure to read the entire Truth In Lending and understand all the rates and fees before deciding on the best credit card for you.

Annual Fees

Some credit card companies will charge an annual fee that will be automatically added to your account balance each year.

This fee doesn't entitle you to any additional services or give you added protection, it is merely a cost of having and using that credit card.

There is no reason for you to choose a card with an annual fee unless the interest rates are extremely low or the rewards offered are ones you will regularly use.

Annual fees generally run from zero to $99, but in some instances can cost in the thousands.

Quick Note:

Be sure to compare all 'no annual fee' credit card offers because some charge much higher APR rates.

Don't worry, none of the credit cards discussed have annual fees over the norms, but I wanted to point out that you need to look closely at the fees associated with each card.

As discussed in the section above, annual fee rates tend to act like a teeter-totter with APR rates, the higher the annual fee, the lower the APR rate and vice-a-versa.

Before selecting a card with an annual fee, be sure that you are getting a really low APR rate or some awesome rewards with your new credit card.

Best Reward Credit Card For 610 Credit Score

Rewards credit cards can be fun and give you great savings on products and services that you regularly use.

Credit card rewards programs are all different; some of the most popular offer you a flat percentage of cashback on all purchases.

However, these percentages tend to be lower in the 1% range.

Where you can really save money and take advantage of your rewards card is if you can find one that offers you a higher percentage cash back on stuff you buy all the time.

That is why no one rewards card is suitable for everyone.

Below we discuss the different types of rewards programs available and suggest the credit cards that you should qualify for with a fair credit score between 610 and 619.

Cash Back Rewards

The most popular rewards card and easiest to understand is the cashback rewards cards.

These cards have programs to give you a percentage of cash back based on the criteria.

Some of these rewards programs give you a small cash back percentage on everything you purchase.

While other reward programs will offer a much higher percentage on select purchases, such as Groceries, Clothing, or Gas.

612 credit score credit card, credit card with 612 credit score, unsecured credit card for 612 credit score, credit card for bad credit score 612, credit card for poor credit score 612, 612 bad credit score credit card, 612 poor credit score credit card 613 credit score credit card, credit card with 613 credit score, unsecured credit card for 613 credit score, credit card for bad credit score 613, credit card for poor credit score 613, 613 bad credit score credit card, 613 poor credit score credit card

612 Credit Score Credit Card & 613 Credit Score Credit Card

The cash back credit usually will be available on your account dashboard online and can be used to make purchases from a catalog or applied to your account balance.

Most dashboards allow you to set up an automatic sweep of the monthly cashback and have it applied to your account balance.

Keep in mind that choosing a credit card with a high cashback percentage may also come with a higher APR rate.

Be sure that it makes financial sense to choose that credit card over a lower APR rated card without the high rewards.

Remember, if you don't use those rewards regularly, you are just paying a higher APR rate and getting nothing in return.

No Annual Fee

Recently we have seen rewards cards that advertise a 'No Annual Fee' with low APR rates.

I know what I said above about low annual fees usually equate to higher APR's, but in this case, there are a few credit cards that offer low APR's too.

From a genuinely economic standpoint, if you can find a credit card with no annual fees and super low APR rates with a credit score between 610 and 619, jump on it!

Travel Miles

With a fair credit score around 612, 614, 616, or 618, you are not going to qualify for the 'best' Travel Mile credit cards.

The reality is you will need a good or excellent credit score to qualify for the name brand travel miles rewards cards.

However, there are a few that you will qualify for, and if you plan on flying regularly, any free tickets are better than no free tickets, right?!?!

Be sure that you read the fine print when you choose a travel rewards credit card with fair credit because the miles may not be used for your preferred airline(s).

It is also possible that there are blackout dates and terms or restrictions that would not work for you.

Just be sure to read all the fine print on how their airline miles program works before choosing a travel rewards credit card.

Student Credit Card Rewards

If you are a student, you may qualify for one of a few special student credit cards specifically designed for you.

Student credit cards usually have incentives for you to make payments on time with regular credit limit increases for meeting payment goals.

They also offer cashback rewards for items a student may be more in line with purchasing, such as movie tickets, fast food, or school supplies.

Many of these student credit cards also offer a more comprehensive credit education program with free credit counseling included with your services.

If you are a student, it makes a lot of sense to take advantage of the extra rewards and services offered with a student credit card.

Business Rewards

You may want to consider a business credit card if you are a small business owner.

Business credit cards are a great way to earn rewards points, miles, or cashback on everyday business expenses.

These rewards can be redeemed for free travel, cash back, gift cards, or merchandise.

They are a great way to begin to build business credit that can help you easier qualify for future business loans like an SBA.

Improve Your 610 Credit Score To Get A Better Credit Card

It goes without saying that the better your credit score, the better credit card you can qualify for.

The best credit cards have no annual fees and no APR rates.

They may even offer rewards, too!

You may be surprised at how easy it can be to raise a credit score in the 615 range up as much as 100 or 150 points.

616 Credit Score Credit Card & 617 Credit Score Credit Card

A higher credit score not only opens additional borrowing opportunities but lowers in the interest rate with which you have to borrow that can save you tens of thousands of dollars.

There are many opportunities to improve your credit score, but we review the two options that have the most likelihood to REALLY improve your credit score!

Repair Your Credit Report

Even with a credit score in the 610 to 619 range, your credit score could still use a lot of work.

A fair credit score barely allows you to qualify for an unsecured credit card, and you can expect to be paying higher APR rates than someone with a good or excellent credit score.

Luckily, you really aren't that far away from a 700 or even 800 credit score.

Have you ever considered hiring a credit repair service to help you?

In a recent study, we found that *48% of paying, credit repair clients got a 100+ credit score gain or more.   If you don't have serious time to devote to your dispute letters, we recommend you hire the pros to help.  Check out our #1 choice for professional credit repair.

The best credit repair companies are usually able to review your credit reports and clean up things that may be keeping your credit score down.

Based on a recent Credit Knocks study, we found that credit repair services cost very little for the services they provide.

Our study found that people who stayed with their credit repair service for six months or longer had a good chance of seeing their credit score increase by 100+ points!

Dilute Your Late Payments

The most common negative items found in credit reports are late payments.

Unfortunately, your on-time payment history ratio accounts for 35% of your FICO score and stays on your record for seven years.

If you are unable to get these late payments removed by the major three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax, & TransUnion, then you are left with only one good option.

Purchase a couple of authorized user tradelines for credit cards that have a perfect payment history of seven years or more.

If you use this totally legal credit hack within 30 - 60 days, your credit file will have permanently inherited the credit history of the authorized user tradelines you purchased.

618 credit score credit card, credit card with 618 credit score, unsecured credit card for 618 credit score, credit card for bad credit score 618, credit card for poor credit score 618, 618 bad credit score credit card, 618 poor credit score credit card 619 credit score credit card, credit card with 619 credit score, unsecured credit card for 619 credit score, credit card for bad credit score 619, credit card for poor credit score 619, 619 bad credit score credit card, 619 poor credit score credit card

618 Credit Score Credit Card & 619 Credit Score Credit Card

By adding these tradelines to your credit file, you inherit years of on-time payments, which help to dilute your old late payments.

For example, imagine if you had 100 payments in your credit file, and 6 of them were late.

The credit agencies would say that you pay 94% of your payments on time.

While this doesn't sound too bad, someone with a good or excellent credit score probably has paid 100% of their payments on time.

Benefits of buying authorized user tradeline:

  • Helps increase user's credit score
  • Cardholder payments appear on user's credit history

If you were to purchase three authorized user tradelines that had been opened for seven-plus years, then you would be adding over 200 on-time payments to your credit file.

Hypothetically, your credit file could then show 300 payments with six late.

However, now you would have a 98% on-time payment history percentage, and your credit score would improve quite a bit.

Of course, you could buy more tradelines if you have more than six late payments and you need to supercharge your payment percentage.

Take Action!

Hopefully, you found this article on the best credit cards for a 610 to 619 credit score helpful.

Having a fair credit score opens up a lot of options, including multiple rewards cards.

When in doubt, I would suggest choosing the credit card with no annual fee because even if you don't love the card, it didn't or won't ever cost you anything.

If you apply for a credit card for a fair credit score and get denied, consider applying for one of our top recommended poor credit credit cards.
